David Madigan Memories Memories of David Madigan

MADIGAN, DAVID JAMES 46, husband of Ellen Frances Madigan, died Friday morning September 11, 2009, at Kaiser Permanente Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born in Lemon Grove on November 2, 1962, he was the son of William C. and Annette L. (Carmody) Madigan. On March 21, 1981, he was united in marriage to Ellen at the Clairemont Emmanuel Baptist Church and shared and celebrated their love of Christ for the next 28 years. Other than their faith, some of their favorite pastimes included his love of the desert with memories from his childhood, weekend movie classics, playing poker, Old Globe Theatre plays, the Padres (spring training at Peoria were always a highlight), traveling throughout the United States, Mexico, and Canada, and professional boxing matches. He was a 1980 graduate of Mount Miguel High School where his fascination of computer technology began. He was hired by the South Bay Union School District in February of 1988 as a Microcomputer AV Repair Technician. After 21 years of service, his title was Supervisor Network Services in which he had many responsibilities including network security, server back-up and disaster recovery, analysis and health management, configuring, installing, and maintaining operating systems, wireless system management and the management of all software applications. His supervisor described Dave as an extremely intelligent, witty and charismatic man who shared laughter, frustration and challenges over the last nine years that she has been in charge of the department (or as she jokingly adds "we pretended I was"). From the first moment anyone met Dave, he made an indelible impact either by his presence, sense of humor, strength, faith, or just his overwhelming love of life. David was willing to give of himself to anyone who needed help. Whether for emotional support or physical needs or just to reboot their computer David was there. He lived life to the fullest and, if you were with him, you went along for the ride. His passion for family and friends were always foremost with his many interests a close second. His hobbies included endless searches for information, knowledge, and insight to any and all subjects he could find on the internet (which he shared with family and friends), followed by hunting with his children, brothers, and friends, golfing, and exploring the desert for rocks and rock formations. He received his patriotic spirit at an early age instilled by his father (an Air Force pilot) and further strengthened by his father-in-law (a Navy Frogman). His many desert activities included flying remote control aircraft (at Madigan airfield), rocket launching, target shooting (at Shell Canyon) and riding ATVs. His other passion was cooking which he shared with all. He was undeniably the master of the kitchen and barbeque. He enjoyed going to fine restaurants and had no problem asking for recipes and talking with the chefs. Surviving in addition to his wife is a daughter, Melissa Rose Luna and her husband Clay of Tennessee, a son, Joshua David Madigan and his wife Audrey of Florida, four brothers, Mike, Tom, John, and Bill all of San Diego County; two grandchildren, Kylee and Kaelynn, sixteen nieces and nephews, and was a Great Uncle to fourteen. He was predeceased by his father, William C. Madigan, father-in-law, Christopher Treola, and brother-in-law Michael L. White.
